I work on Windows 10 and have recently installed CS3 a few months ago and the product was working fine until I recently had this interruption from Adobe that I need to re-activate product in order use this product.Looking forward to your reply. Dear John,I received instructions from Adobe Support (phone chat) and the agent emailed me 'Installing Steps' as well as details to uninstall CS3. So far I have uninstalled the Suite successfully. In addition I was instructed and given steps by Adobe Support Agent to delete all the Adobe folders available on my computer located in C: Program Files/Adobe and other files etc. So far I have deleted C: Program Files (x86) Adobe. I am now trying to delete C: Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Adobe but when I try to delete this folder (which contains subfolders) I get a pop up that states:'Folder Access Denied'Need permission to perform this action'Require Permission from Administrator to make changes to this folder'So I as mentioned earlier I am on a fairly new Windows10 HP All in Once Computer. The user name on this computer is under My Name however this computer WAS purchased by my brother on line (I don't know if that makes a difference).

I am stuck at this point. I do not know how to obtain permission to delete/alter this file. Can you please advise? Thanks so much! Really appreciate your help! Hi Jeff! Thanks for replying. Very nerve-wracking process! I removed a lot of Adobe related folders as instructed by the Adobe Support Agent which includes Adobe PCD folder and others but ln retrospect I should have just followed the instructions on the link you provided. In any event I managed to install the new CS3 with the new serial number via the link you have provided.

About 3/4 of the way into the installation process however an Error: message popped up interrupting the installation process, 'The file PDF.dll on Windows Vista CD-ROM is needed'. Without knowing what to do, I cancelled this error message, exited the dialog box and continued with the installation to completion. I DO see an adobepdf.dll folder in C:drive Adobe however I have absolutely no idea if the AdobePDF.dll is properly installed, if it's the right one or do I need to take further action regarding this file.Everything else seems to be working properly except for the fact that at times when trying to save an illustrator file (after all the work I put into the sketch etc, it DOES NOT SAVE and I get another error message something like 'encountered a problem saving' or something like that, I don't remember exactly. As mentioned it does not happen always but often enough where it creates total frustration. My questions therefore are:A) Regarding AdobePDF.dll do I need to take further action regarding this file to ensure it was properly installed?B) Regarding 'saving' issues can you advise further?Would you be kind enough to advise? Thanks a mill, really appreciate your help!

Hi Jeff!I'm back again. So sorry, I feel like such a nuisance. Just needed some clarification. There are two options on the link you providedOption#1: Windows Vista -64 bit version. Suggests to 1) 'install Microsoft Hot fix as documented in Microsoft Article #930627 available at support.microsoft.com etc.' And 2) Update Acrobat to version 8.1 or later via the Adobe website'.(not sure if they mean to apply both #1 and #2 or just one or the other) (The CS3 I installed today has Acrobat Adobe 8 Professional). So I am not on a Vista Platform. I am currently using a fairly new Hewlett Packard Windows 10 All in One Home Desktop PC.

Would the above suggestion apply to me? And also I don't know what these downloads are and am afraid to download anything I am not familiar with or what do once it is downloaded although I'm sure they have instructionsOption #2: Windows 7-64 bit version. 'Manually extract the file 'adobepdf.dill-64' from the data1 cab file before installing Acrobat (BUT I ALREADY INSTALLED ACROBAT WHICH WAS PART OF THE CS3 SUITE). 'When the prompt appears navigate to this file and select it' and further instructions etc. So again I am on Windows 10 not Windows 7.

Would this apply to me? Do I actually need to go through any of these processes and if so which road should I be taking? I cannot find any instruction for Windows 10 on the web regarding this issue.Looking forward to your kind reply. Thank you so very much!

John is not an Adobe employee but rather volunteers his time to help others utilizing the experience he has gained using the software over the years. One additional note FashionGirl if the AdobePDF.dll continues to give you difficulties you may want to start another discussion in the forum. The community in this forum will be more familiar with any errors with using and installing Acrobat 8 on Windows 10. Thanks for the insight Jeff. Yes John has been very helpful as well.

Such a nice group of people you are. Makes life so much more pleasant dealing with kind people LOL.

I will take your advise regarding the AdobePDF.dll if I run into a problem. So even though Acrobat 8 Pro has been installed within the Suite I gather from our discussion that I still have to go ahead and do a separate installation for the AdobePDF.dll due to the error message that came up during the installation process. I will go ahead then and give it a try.Its been a real pleasure communicating with you and thank you again so very much for your assistance. I really appreciate it and wish you a blessed life and joy and happiness.

Hope to communicate with you again sometime. Have an amazing evening!Warm Regards,FashionGirl (Eva).

Good morning Jeff, hope all is well.In continuation this is regarding the Adobepdf.dll file.I've managed to copy the Adobepdf.dll-64 to my desktop from the data1.cab file as per instructions via the link you sent me.So it states to manually extract the file 'adobepdf.dll-64 from the data1.cab file BEFORE installing Acrobat but I have ALREADY installed the entire CS3 Suite which included Acrobat 8 Pro so what do I do now? Then it states to 'Run the installer setup.exe and when the prompt appears to choose browse and select the file I copied to my desk top. So when I clicked on the Setup.exe file it seems to me that it would probably install the entire suite all over again so I cancelled out of it before moving forward.Question: So does this mean I have to reinstall the entire Suite all over again, meaning I have to first uninstall the entire CS3 program and then reinstall or does the installation just override the previous installation?

I'm very confused. If I have to uninstall and reinstall the entire suite this is just too daunting/nerve-wracking for me because I don't want anything to go wrong. Can I just install the Adobepdf.dll-64 portion separately and if so how would that be done?. Oh and by the way if the adobePDF.dll is already in the data1.cab file why do I have to install it at all? Is it because of the error message that came up regarding 'missing adobePDF.dll file' that came up during the initial installation? Sorry for the million questions. Just trying to get a handle on this. Please let me know.

I'm not going to do anything until I hear back from you. Thank you Jeff very much! Good morning Eva. Yes, I believe you will need to rerun the installation of Acrobat 8 to install the necessary Adobepdf.dll. You should then be able to browse to the file, when it is detected as missing, during the installation process. You can choose to uninstall on Acrobat 8 and then reinstall.

You do not need to remove the entire installation of Creative Suite 3.If you continue running into errors, please do start a new discussion in the Installing, Updating, & Subscribing to Acrobat forum Eva. I have seen other individual's post on this topic, and they have quickly received a resolution to their concerns. Please also be aware that there may be some compatibility issues with running CS3 on Windows 10. Acrobat 8, in particular, may not function as expected.

You will likely be able to open and edit PDFs, but I am unsure if you can create new PDFs unless you use a later version of Acrobat Eva. For a link to the Installing, Updating, & Subscribing to Acrobat please see post #16 of this discussion. This forum community will also be familiar with any reduced functionality of Acrobat 8 on Windows 10. I hope all is well.

I came back to you with an update and was hoping I can get your input. In continuation regarding the error message that came up ('The file Adobepdf.dll on Windows Vista CDRom is needed') while installing CS3 with the new serial I did go to the forum you suggested ( forum.) to get their feedback. I explained that I ignored the error message and the Suite seemed to have installed successfully and seems to be working properly HOWEVER I never went back to resolve the issue regarding the error message that popped up stating 'The file AdobePDF.dll on Windows Vista CD-ROM is needed' so my question was 'is there anything I need to do further? If so can you please advise go-forward directives?' I just wanted their input as well. The one answer I received was from kglad and the reply was (see below)Dec 8, 2017 7:31 AM 'if it works, leave it.'

So I did nothing but I read somewhere on line that if I ignore this issue and do nothing my computer may eventually slow down or even crash. Is this true? I am concerned and feel uneasy that I did not resolve my issue.

Should I in fact follow the advise 'if it works, leave it'?Can you advise your thoughts? Eva, to be honest, I would not risk using such an older version of Acrobat on my computer. You may want to look at utilizing Adobe Reader if you don't often edit PDFs. You can find a link to download and install the current release of Adobe Reader atIf you do edit PDF files then you may want to look at purchasing Acrobat Pro DC. There are a number of options available at.Acrobat 9 has not received any security updates for several years. It is likely there are open exploits which could be utilized to leave the computer vulnerable. Hi Jeff,Thanks for your prompt reply.

As you may have noticed by now I am very ignorant when it comes to the computer world. I know how to draw and design and use Adobe Creative but beyond that I am not technically proficient at all.Ok so let me try to understand because I really don't even understand what Adobepdf.dll means and what its function is however if I understand you correctly I should upgrade and install Adobe Acrobat DC through the website. Question:A)Which option should I get?B) What should I do with the current Acrobat 8 that is currently installed with the old CS3 suite?C) How will installing the Acrobat DC affect the Acrobat 8 that is currently installed?C) Will the Acorbat DC be compatible with the old CS3 suite?I hope that I am not overstepping my limit of questions I can ask you but I really do not know what I am doing. Your help is so appreciated!
