Mitsubishi Gx Developer Version 8.8
We are having problems with our comments in our programs not displaying correctly. When you look at them they are a bunch of random characters. We are using Melsoft GX Developer version 8.8T. We have Q series PLC's that we are reading from. The machines came from Japan so I am wondering if it just isn't reading it correctly and we need another font pack?
It came with a printed copy of the program with comments in english so I know they are there just trying to figure out why it doesn't display correctly in the program. Any help is greatly appreciated. The issue is the comments were written in Japanese. Japanese characters take 2 bytes to store.
The English version of software uses only one byte character codes (typical of English). So it's taking one Japanese character code and displaying 2 English characters, basically garbage. There is NO way to see the Japanese in the English GX Developer.
You didn't give a valid version number either. Your only choice is to use GX Works2 which replaces GX Developer. It has language support and can show the Japanese text so that you can copy and paste it to like Google or another website to translate it.
And just because your printout showed English characters doesn't mean that's what got loaded to the PLC. Comments are not used by the PLC, just stored. So it's possible to have a different comment file. When I talked to my maintenance engineer he said that when they were using the A series PLC's from Mitsubishi they would go in and change from use comments for all programs to only this program or something of that nature.

Then the comments would show up correctly but now we are using Q series on most machines and this same tactic does not work. So you don't think it is something to do with the fonts that are loaded?
We aren't trying to load the japanese comments but the English comments, but you said that they are different files so perhaps there is a different comment file that we need to find. The trick with A Series was that you could create 2 comment files, local and global. Still can with GX Developer. SO in some cases, programmers wrote comments in the global list in one language and the local comments in a different language. But this meant the programmer wrote them twice, and saved them twice. And A Series could not store comments, so they had to be in the original project files on the PC.
In Tools, under Options, you can check global or local for comments and see if they are there. But 99% chance they are not.
I am having trouble with GX Developer-FX Version 8.32JAfter unistalling gx developer 6.1. I installed version 8 with no apparent problems. When I am in monitor/write mode, and have made a change then convert/upload that change the program crashes and i loose any unsaved information. The error i get is 'The memory could not be read'Also when starting the program some times it comes up with a Shared memory error.I am trying to program an FX3UThanks for any helpPictures of the errors are belowDavid. Try this, wait 5 minutes after you restart windows, then load gx-developer, I know it sounds odd, but since mitsubishi does not give any other solutions to this bug, (there is a Q&A section in the Operating Manual(Startup) on the installation CD, or you can download this manual from www.meau.com) it does not hurt. The last thing I can think of os check your hardware, gx-developer 8 needs considerable CPU speed and RAM volume (my laptop is Dell ispiron 600M c/w 1.4Ghz 512M RAM and I had this error before).
